The TeraMedica Division of FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. will host a complimentary educational healthcare IT symposium about the benefits of vendor neutral archives (VNA) for hospital leadership, chief information officers and IT managers on April 7, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Presidio Golf Clubhouse in San Francisco, CA.
“As our healthcare system continues to evolve to a true value-based system, there is increasing pressure on hospitals to improve collaboration and quality,” said Johann Fernando, PhD, chief operating officer, FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “As leaders in the VNA space, our symposium is designed to educate CIOs and other key decision makers about how VNA can help them achieve those goals by facilitating interoperability.”
The event will include two presentations that offer attendees a chance to gain insights from their healthcare IT peers as well as from recognized industry consultants.
“Reflections: 13 Years of Putting VNA Into Practice” will feature Steve G. Langer, PhD, DABR, CIIP, Professor of Radiologic Physics and Imaging Informatics at Mayo Clinic. Professor Langer will discuss the benefits achieved though the use of Mayo Clinic’s original TeraMedica VNA solution. Initiated in 2001 and fully deployed in 2003, Mayo Clinic has implemented one of the world’s largest enterprise clinical image management solutions—providing access to any diagnostic image, anywhere, anytime. The presentation will also explore how the VNA continues to evolve within Mayo Clinic’s vast clinical ecosystem.
“Enterprise Imaging: To the Summit and Back, a Sherpa’s Perspective” will be led by Jef Williams, MBA, PMP and Shawn McKenzie, MBA, President and CEO of Ascendian Healthcare Consulting, Inc. With years of experience guiding clients at healthcare organizations across the nation, the presenters will discuss lessons learned and best practices for adopting and implementing an enterprise imaging strategy as well as the role of VNA in a successful strategy.
