The new Clinical Health Information Exchange comprises Intermountain Healthcare, MountainStar, IASIS and the University of Utah Health Care systems.
Patients, who could withdraw permission from the cHIE program at any time, can request a report of who has accessed their electronic medical records and why. The cHIE program will cost $3 million annually but is free to patients. Clinicians will pay a fee based on office size, while hospitals will pay a fee based on the previous year’s discharges, according to a cHIE release.
