Former IBM Watson executive named chief digital officer of GE’s energy startup

John Gordon, previously vice president of strategy and innovation with IBM Watson, has been appointed chief digital officer of GE’s new energy startup Current, reports Boston Business Journal.

Mr. Gordon spent 16 years with IBM, joining in 1999 as a marketing team lead. He also served as program director for business strategy, director of marketing of IBM’s software group and director of Smarter Cities before becoming vice president of IBM Watson in October 2011, according to his LinkedIn profile.

At GE’s Current, Mr. Gordon will leverage GE’s digital business solutions across Current’s innovations, like intelligent lighting that uses sensors to gather data from street lamps and analytics to develop further solutions.
