Mr. Kendall — an attorney — is currently an executive in residence to Arlington, Va.-based Renaissance Strategic Advisors, an aerospace and defense advisory firm.
In May 2012, the Senate confirmed Mr. Kendall as the under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics. As the longest-serving under secretary of defense for AT&L, he was responsible for all Secretary of Defense buying matters and research budget administration.
Mr. Kendall also served as principal deputy under secretary and acting under secretary from March 2010 to May 2012.
