Currently, hospitals can charge up to $1 for the first page of patients’ medical records and $0.25 for each page thereafter. The proposal would increase the maximum to $1 for all pages and allow hospitals to charge the same amount for electronic copies as for paper, according to the report.
The proposed change will come before the Florida Board of Medicine Friday, according to the report.
