Fitbit adds HIPAA compliance features to its Wellness division

Fitbit has announced new privacy and security features for its Fitbit Wellness division, according to a MedCityNews report.

The new features will align the company’s division with HIPAA requirements. Fitbit will now be able to securely share data from its corporate wellness platform with providers, health plans and self-insured employers, according to the report.

With this new focus on HIPAA-compliance, there will be more opportunity to incorporate Fitbit wearable devices into employee wellness programs.
