Dr. Abernethy will lead the FDA’s software and data efforts, an FDA official told Politico. She will replace the FDA’s acting CIO Craig Taylor, who also serves as the agency’s CISO and took on the interim CIO position after Todd Simpson’s departure in March 2018, FedScoop reports.
Prior to joining the FDA, Dr. Abernethy served as CMO and chief scientific officer of Flatiron Health, where she oversaw clinical operations, oncology research and data science teams.
