Epic, Netsmart EHRs link to provide continuity of care

Hillsboro, Ore.-based Virginia Garcia Memorial Hospital and Portland, Ore.-based LifeWorks NW, a behavioral health services provider, have entered a technology initiative to improve the continuity of care for patients in both organizations.

Through the new initiative, information from Virginia Garcia's Epic EHR platform and information from LifeWorks Netsmart CareRecord EHR platform will integrate into a continuity of care document for each patient. The two providers are working with the Oregon Community Health Information Network and using Netsmart's CareConnect solution to produce the documents.

"This system delivers the right data to the right place at the right time, and enables earlier identification and treatment of acute and behavioral issues," said Laura Byerly, MD, medical director at Virginia Garcia.
