Oracle completed a round of job cuts this month, with 539 taking place at the former Cerner campus in Kansas City, Mo.
The software giant bought the EHR vendor in 2022 for $28.4 billion, later redubbing it Oracle Health. The Kansas City terminations were announced in March and carried out between May 26 and June 1.
“Three-and-a-half years ago, Oracle set out to transform healthcare, and we remain committed to this mission,” Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Health and Life Sciences, told Becker’s. “Whether it is helping to bring new therapies to market faster, streamlining prior authorization processes, or enhancing care delivery, we are creating the comprehensive change that patients, providers, payers, and life sciences organizations deserve.”
Here is the mix of layoffs at the Kansas City site, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed in April:
— Clinical roles: Lead clinical terminologist (two), senior clinical terminologist (two), senior manager of clinical terminology (one), senior staff clinical consultant (one).
— Regulatory/compliance: Regulatory compliance director (one), regulatory compliance senior director (one), regulatory compliance specialists (four).
— Healthcare-specific: Senior physician solution executive (one).
— Core software/support: Large numbers of software developers, systems analysts, technical analysts, quality assurance analysts, project managers, and product managers.
