Forbes released its list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women on June 3 — and Epic founder and CEO Judy Faulkner ranks near the top.

Ms. Faulkner came in No. 2 on the list, with an estimated net worth of $7.8 billion.

The 81-year-old built her fortune after founding Epic in a Wisconsin basement apartment in 1979. The company has grown to encompass the electronic medical records of over 325 million patients and many of the largest health systems in the U.S.

She owns an estimated 43% of Epic, which had $5.7 billion in sales in 2024, according to Forbes. She sells about $100 million in shares back to the company each year, donating the proceeds to her Roots & Wings charitable foundation. She has also pledged to eventually give away 99% of her assets to charity.
