The St. Cloud (Minn.) VA Medical Center and its affiliated clinics will transition to a new EHR system in May 2027.
The platform, called the Federal EHR, is also used by the Department of Defense and is intended to enhance care continuity for service members as they move from active duty to veteran status. According to a Jan. 23 news release from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the system will support more seamless sharing of health data among VA facilities, the Defense Department, other federal agencies and participating community care providers.
The VA’s transition is part of a broader modernization effort to replace its longstanding legacy system, the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture and the Computerized Patient Record System, or VistA/CPRS.
