The Department of Veterans Affairs rolled out its federal EHR system, Oracle Health, to four additional facilities in Ohio and Kentucky, marking the agency’s second wave of deployments in 2026.
Here are three things to know about the rollout:
- The new EHR system went live June 7 at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, Chillicothe VA Medical Center, Dayton VA Medical Center and Cincinnati VA Medical Center-Fort Thomas, according to a June 8 VA news release.
- The Ohio and Kentucky launch follows the April deployment of the federal EHR system at four VA medical facilities in Michigan.
- Additional deployments are scheduled later this year. In August, the EHR is slated to go live at Fort Wayne VA Medical Center, Marion VA Medical Center and Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indiana. The Alaska VA Healthcare System in Anchorage and Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center are scheduled for deployment in October.
The VA plans to install the Oracle Health EHR at 13 medical centers in 2026, beginning with the four hospitals in Michigan in April, with the goal of completing the program by 2031.
The VA initially signed a $10 billion contract with Cerner in 2018. The cost has since grown to more than $16 billion following Oracle’s acquisition of Cerner in 2022.
