Pittsburgh-based UPMC has selected Meditech as the foundational EHR for its Ireland locations.

The health system will deploy Meditech Expanse across its four hospitals, two cancer centers, and six sports medicine clinics in Ireland.

“This implementation marks a major milestone in UPMC’s digital transformation, giving us a unified, cloud-based electronic health record that replaces legacy systems,” UPMC Ireland CIO Pat Cronin said in a June 5 news release. “It will empower clinicians and staff with faster, more connected access to information, supporting smarter decision-making and improved care coordination.”

UPMC is transitioning its American hospitals to an Epic EHR by mid-2026. While Epic is the dominant U.S. EHR vendor, Meditech is the most popular EHR company in Ireland.
