Cleveland-based University Hospitals has integrated Fullscript into its EHR, allowing physicians to recommend supplements and vitamins directly to patients through Epic.
The integration gives providers greater visibility into patients’ supplement use and allows patients to access clinician-recommended products through the Fullscript platform, according to a May 12 University Hospitals news release.
University Hospitals said it is the first health system to deeply integrate supplement recommendations through Fullscript into Epic’s medication management workflow. The integration is intended to support safer clinical decision-making and improve coordination between care teams and patients.
Nearly three-quarters of patients incorporate supplements into their wellness routines, according to FDA data cited by UH.
