Three things to know:
1. Epic and American Well integrated their platforms last month, which allows providers that use Epic to conduct telehealth appointments directly through the EHR.
2. UNC Health Care patients can use their mobile phone, tablet or desktop to participate in a video visit with their provider directly through Epic’s MyChart patient portal.
3. The health system rolled out the telehealth services earlier this month for select primary care and specialty care providers. It plans to expand the program over the next year.
“After the completion of a successful pilot, we’re confident this workflow will enable UNC Health Care to expand our services across the state, with an innovative yet intuitive workflow for both providers and patients,” said Robert L. Gianforcaro, DO, UNC Health Care’s executive medical director of population health and virtual care, according to a news release.
