Two prison facilities have gone live on the NextGen Healthcare EHR since February 2017 as part of a pilot rollout of the system, which NextGen Healthcare customized for the state’s prisons. The EHR includes suicide and substance abuse screenings during the patient intake process.

The prisons currently use a mix of paper records and electronic systems developed in the 1980s, leaving some of the estimated 20,000 inmates’ records incomplete, according to the Post and Courier.
