Oracle can begin construction on a new world headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., after getting approval from the city’s Metro Council, NewsChannel5 reported.
The estimated $2 billion project has been in the works for four years, but Oracle co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison said in 2024 that the riverside campus would be the company’s new global home, in part to position it amid a healthcare business epicenter. Oracle bought EHR vendor Cerner in 2022 for $28.4 billion.
“The renderings look fabulous,” said Metro Councilman Jacob Kupin, according to the Oct. 21 story. “In my mind, I was probably picturing just … another office park and high rise, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it really is spectacular, it looks like you’re out in the woods.”
The plans include 2 million square feet of office space spread across 75 acres, as well as retail, a luxury hotel, public walking trails and a pedestrian bridge, per the news outlet. Oracle said in 2021 the project would bring 8,500 jobs to Nashville.
An Oracle spokesperson told NewsChannel5: “Oracle is excited to break ground on our state-of-the-art campus in Nashville. The new development will position Nashville as a hub of AI innovation, leveraging the city’s dynamic culture, urban setting, and talented workforce.”
