West Ascension Parish Hospital in Donaldsonville, La., will go live with Epic Community Connect on Sept. 1.
The critical access hospital has spent the past 11 months preparing for the transition alongside Our Lady of the Lake Health, according to an Aug. 28 Facebook post from the West Ascension Parish Hospital Service District.
Hospital officials said the new EHR is expected to improve interoperability with participating healthcare organizations and give clinicians greater access to patient health information, including medications, allergies, laboratory results, imaging and medical histories.
The hospital also expects the platform to improve communication among providers and departments, care coordination and patients’ access to their health information.
Chief Nursing Officer Loretta Larvadin, Director of Ancillary Services Alicia Falsetta and Special Projects Director Jared Lormand were among the hospital leaders involved in preparing for the transition.
The hospital said patients may experience an adjustment period as employees and providers become familiar with the new system.
