Lavaca Medical Center selected Cerner CommunityWorks, a cloud-based IT platform focused on the rural and community hospital market. Under the agreement, the critical access hospital transitioned to the Cerner Millennium EHR, which provides physicians with access to patients’ clinical and financial data.

The hospital’s emergency department and clinic switched to Cerner’s EHR from a paper-records system.

“Cerner’s technology has helped us optimize patient care by providing more convenience and better efficiency between different departments and facilities within our network,” Dale Zoch-Hardilek, CIO of Lavaca Medical Center, said in a news release.

The Cerner CommunityWorks IT platform also offers patients access to an online portal to message physicians, schedule appointments and access their health history.
