Judy Faulkner, CEO and founder of EHR vendor Epic Systems, has been named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Leaders list, which recognizes top figures in public service, business, healthcare and education.
Ms. Faulkner, who launched Epic in 1979 in the basement of her home with just two employees, was honored in the business category. Today, the publication notes, Epic generates billions of dollars in annual revenue and employs more than 14,000 people.
Epic is also the predominant player in the medical records market, supporting an estimated 50% of all U.S. hospital beds and maintaining records for more than 325 million patients across the U.S. and in 16 countries.
Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, owner of the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Co., was also named to the list in the business category.
