HIMSS Announces its 2009 National Davies Award Winners

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society has announced its 2009 Davies Award recipients for excellence in the use of health information technology, according to a HIMSS news release.

The HIMSS Davies Award recipients are selected for their leadership in EHR implementation and their efforts in educating other healthcare providers in the use of EHR implementation to improve quality and patient care.

The 2009 award categories and winners include:

•    HIMSS Organizational Davies Award — MultiCare Health System (Tacoma, Wash.)
•    HIMSS Ambulatory Davies Award — Virginia Women’s Center (Richmond, Va.)
•    Community Health Davies Award — Urban Health Plan (Bronx, N.Y.); Heart of Texas (Waco, Texas)
•    Public Health Davies Award — Boston Public Health Commission; Denver Public Health

Since 1994, the HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence program has honored more than 60 healthcare organizations that have implemented health IT, specifically EHRs, in their respective locations.

Davies Award recipients will be honored at the 2010 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition on March 1-4, 2010 in Atlanta, Ga.
