Epic integrates 2-way patient texting to software

Epic Systems has integrated two-way patient texting, which allows hospitals and health systems using its software to offer patients mobile messaging that can send them alerts about appointments, prescriptions and billing.

The EHR vendor will integrate SMS from Syniverse into its Hello World workflows, according to an Aug. 28 news release from Syniverse. The tool allows patients to receive mobile messages about check-in links, prescription reminders, billing and care reminders.

Through the messaging, patients can also confirm, cancel or reschedule their appointments.
