Epic and Humana are collaborating to make it easier for Medicare Advantage members to check in for their appointments.

The EHR and payer giants teamed up Nov. 18 to jointly launch Epic’s coverage finder and digital insurance card features. The capabilities encompass over 800,000 Humana Medicare Advantage patients at about 120 different health systems, automatically confirming coverage in advance of visits to eliminate paperwork.

Epic and Humana are touting the effort as part of their participation in the Trump administration’s “kill the clipboard” initiative to advance healthcare data interoperability and digitization. Humana recently partnered with Renton, Wash.-based Providence on a similar initiative.
