Two New York-based health systems will begin switching to Epic EHR March 22, according to the local news station WXHC.

Ithaca-based Cayuga Health and Elmira-based Arnot Health joined together earlier this year to form Centralus Health, a partnership focused on transforming healthcare delivery and upgrading technology. The two organizations plan to launch Epic EHR across all locations and install MyChart for patients to ease communication and promote more effective care management.

Both Cayuga and Arnot will invest in capital improvements across facilities and workforce, and expand services they couldn’t provide independently. Together, Centralus has 6,500 employees and provides $1 billion in annual medical services.

Epic is the most common EHR among acute care hospitals, with both large and small systems making the switch over the last few years. According to the company’s website, 82% of HIMSS Stage 7 clinics in the U.S. use Epic and the company has recently added generative AI to its platform for improved workflows, revenue cycle and patient experience.
