Coral Gables-based Baptist Health South Florida plans to switch to an Epic EHR over the next two years, a leader told Becker’s.
“This move reflects our continued commitment to innovation and improving the care experience for both our patients and our clinical teams,” Sha Edathumparampil, chief digital and information officer of Baptist Health South Florida, told Becker’s on June 11. “Epic was selected for its intuitive design and ability to streamline workflows, enabling clinicians to spend more time with patients and less time navigating systems.”
The 12-hospital system joins a growing number of health systems transitioning to the nation’s largest EHR vendor. Epic increased its market share lead in 2024, and now covers 42.3% of U.S. acute care hospitals and 54.9% of hospital beds.
Baptist Health South Florida currently uses Oracle Health, formerly known as Cerner, for its EHR.
