In November, the health system moved into the build phase of its Epic EHR integration.
During this phase, the health system selected clinical and operational staff to meet in workgroups and advisory councils to begin making configuration decisions about the new system, according to a Dec. 20 press release from Albany.
The build phase of the integration is slated to run until May 2023, with the first two waves of the Epic EHR installation to begin in March 2024 with Albany Medical Center, followed by Hudson, N.Y.-based Columbia Memorial Health, Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital and Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Saratoga Hospital in September.
The goal of the integration is to make Epic its main EHR platform and to replace its several disparate EHR systems — Meditech, Allscripts, Oracle Cerner, Soarian and Medent — with one.
