Aetna confirmed the transaction with Becker’s Hospital Review.
An Aetna representative didn’t disclose the price of the transaction. Aetna acquired Medicity for $500 million in 2011.
“Based on the evolution of Aetna’s consumer health strategy, we have agreed to divest Medicity to Health Catalyst. The transaction is expected to close within 90 days. We are not disclosing further details at this time,” an Aetna spokesperson told Becker’s.
Medicity and Health Catalyst, a data analytics firm, are both based in Salt Lake City.
