Gaithersburg, Md.-based Adventist HealthCare plans to implement Epic as its enterprisewide EHR platform, with a launch expected in 2028.

The two-year initiative represents one of the most significant investments in the health system’s history, according to an Oct. 6 news release from Adventist HealthCare.

The implementation will connect hospitals, physician practices, rehabilitation services, behavioral health services, imaging centers, cancer centers, home care and other care settings through a single patient record.

“Implementing Epic is an investment in our future and in the people we serve,” Adventist HealthCare President and CEO John Sackett said in the news release. “By connecting information across our system, we will enhance the patient experience, strengthen collaboration among our care teams and support the continued delivery of high-quality, compassionate care.”

The health system said the platform is expected to improve care coordination, expand patient access to health information and digital tools, and strengthen interoperability across care settings.

Adventist HealthCare serves the Washington, D.C., region through a network of hospitals, outpatient facilities, physician practices and other care services.
