Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth is making OpenEvidence available to clinical teams across the health system through existing EHR workflows beginning Oct. 1.
Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, care managers, therapists and other clinical roles will have access to the resource, which helps users research medical scenarios using peer-reviewed literature and clinical guidelines, according to an Oct. 1 news release.
AdventHealth said the deployment is intended to reduce the time clinicians spend searching for medical evidence and give them more time for conversations with patients and families.
“OpenEvidence gives our care teams a practical way to access current clinical evidence as they care for patients,” Michael Cacciatore, MD, AdventHealth’s chief clinical officer, said in the release. “It can help reduce the time clinicians spend searching for information and create more time for listening, explaining and caring for the whole person.”
The health system said the resource is intended to support, not replace, clinicians’ expertise and accountability. Care decisions will remain grounded in professional judgment, patients’ individual circumstances and the relationship between patients, families and their care team.
