HCA Healthcare now has 72 hospitals across the U.S. and U.K. running on Meditech Expanse as the health system continues a multiyear EHR rollout.

The latest implementation brought 34 hospitals in HCA’s Capital and North Florida divisions onto the platform, according to a Sept. 14 news release from Meditech. They are the first two of HCA’s 15 U.S. divisions to fully implement Expanse.

The Capital Division includes 18 hospitals in Virginia and New Hampshire, while the North Florida Division includes 16 hospitals in Florida.

HCA began its large-scale deployment of Expanse in 2025, when 22 hospitals went live on the platform. The latest group completed implementation in August, and another wave of hospitals is scheduled to go live in October.

The health system is rolling out Expanse across additional facilities in both the U.S. and U.K.

“Every successful Expanse go-live is an important step toward a more connected and consistent care environment across HCA Healthcare,” Jake O’Shea, MD, HCA Healthcare’s vice president and chief health information officer, said in the release.

HCA said Expanse is being used to create a more standardized foundation for clinical information and workflows across the organization. The health system handles approximately 47 million patient encounters annually.
