This is the first native iOS app that allows clinicians to submit electronic prescriptions for controlled substances. The capability is built into the drchrono EHR app.

“We are making it possible for physicians to quickly and securely prescribe controlled substances and dramatically improve care for their sickest patients,” Daniel Kivatinos, COO and co-founder of drchrono, said in a statement. “It is exciting to be paving the way, getting certified as the first EPCS enabled prescription native iOS app to send controlled substances in the U.S.”

The platform was certified by Infogard, an independent IT security laboratory in the U.S. Infogard is authorized by ONC to test and certify EHR products.
