Dr. Karen DeSalvo to retain top position at ONC while serving on Ebola response team

Though Karen DeSalvo, MD, National Coordinator, was named HHS' acting assistant secretary of health, she will still maintain her position at ONC, the agency has clarified.

At HHS, Dr. DeSalvo will serve on the Ebola response team and work with public health matters. At ONC, she will continue to chair the Health IT Policy Committee, lead the development of the Interoperability Roadmap and stay involved with meaningful use policymaking.

The ONC said Lisa Lewis will provide daily leadership at ONC as acting national coordinator and COO.
