DOD stays on schedule, plans to implement EHR on base later this month

The Department of Defense is on schedule with its Cerner EHR implementation, according to a July 5 tweet from the Program Executive Office for Defense Healthcare Management Systems.

The new EHR system, MHS Genesis, will roll out at the DOD's Oak Harbor, Wash., base in July. This deployment is consistent with the department's initial timeline, notes the Politico Morning eHealth newsletter.

The DOD aims to roll out the EHR system in multiple waves, ultimately replacing DOD's legacy system by 2022.Officials hope the new EHR will provide a single health record for service members, veterans and their families. It aims to integrate inpatient and outpatient solutions and connect medical and dental information.
