Here are three things to know about the collaboration:

1. The five-year agreement links up Amazon’s largest retail rival with its biggest cloud-computing competitor, according to CNBC. The move also signals Walmart’s increased focus on its online experience, just as Microsoft has reportedly been working on cashier-free checkout technology.

2. Walmart aims to speed up and simplify online shoppers’ experience by migrating a sizeable portion of walmart.com and samsclub.com to Azure, Microsoft’s cloud-computing platform.

3. Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a statement, “Whether it’s combined with our agile cloud platform or leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to work smarter, we believe Microsoft will be a strong partner in driving our ability to innovate even further and faster.”
