Venture capital funding for digital health startups mostly went to a few big winners in the first quarter of 2026, researcher Rock Health reported.
Here are five things to know from the April 6 report:
1. Total funding reached $4 billion, up from $3 billion during the same quarter last year.
2. However, that funding came from only 110 deals, compared to 122 in Q1 of 2025.
3. The average deal size was $36.7 million, the highest since the fourth quarter of 2021.
4. Fifty-nine percent of the capital deployed came from 12 megadeals (funding rounds of $100 million and up), the highest since the fourth quarter of 2021 (61%).
5. The megadeals included $575 million for wearables company Whoop, $300 million for precision health platform Verily and $250 million for healthcare AI startup OpenEvidence.
