Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai is offering a virtual second opinion service designed to provide patients with expert reviews of their medical records without requiring travel.
Through the program, Cedars-Sinai’s team collects participants’ medical records, diagnosis information and questions, which are then reviewed by a physician specializing in the relevant area of medicine, according to a Feb. 4 system news release. The physician prepares a written report outlining findings and recommendations.
Participants may also opt to take part in a virtual education session to review the report and ask follow-up questions. Cedars-Sinai said participants receive the written report before the optional session to allow time for review.
The organization said it contacts participants within one business day after information is submitted to confirm details and begin the process.
