The future of healthcare will be shaped by the industry’s use of data, Kevin Sayer, CEO of Dexcom, a maker of continuous glucose monitoring systems, told CNBC‘s Jim Cramer.

On the Nov. 13 episode of Mad Money, Mr. Sayer predicted that big data will transform the healthcare industry. “This whole integration of healthcare data is really going to be the next frontier,” he said, per CNBC.

“We’re seeing trends all over, as we do Type 2 programs, for example, to learn where you take all the data from these patients and you can really diagnose: Are the drugs effective? How do we change activity? What recommendations do we make? What do we learn to eat?” Mr. Sayer continued.

He described the success of Dexcom’s latest monitoring device, which allows users to share their diabetes tracking data with up to 10 people. According to Mr. Sayer, one user was able to treat her low blood sugar earlier than she previously would have because her mother was able to check on the tracking data from afar and send an alert.

“When you can do things like that and deliver results like that with a system, you’re really solving a very serious problem,” Mr. Sayer said.
