Deloitte: The data analytics talent health plans want to hire

The majority of analytics professionals employed by health plans — 60 percent — indicate their organization has filled an “analytics designer” role, but may be looking to hire new talent, according to a report by accounting and consulting firm Deloitte.

The Deloitte Center for Health Solutions surveyed 45 analytics professionals at health plans with more than 250,000 members about the priorities and challenges of implementing analytics. The center also conducted 15 in-depth interviews with health plan and technology company executives.

Here are five analytics positions respondents may hire within the next year.

1. Data scientist: 18 percent (40 percent already employ)

2. Self-service librarian: 18 percent (16 percent already employ)

3. Analytics librarian: 16 percent (24 percent already employ)

4. Analytics designer: 11 percent (60 percent already employ)

5. Visualization developer: 9 percent (49 percent already employ)
