Deere CIO to become chief digital and information officer at American Airlines

American Airlines named Ganesh Jayaram, PhD, its chief digital and information officer effective Sept. 1. Dr. Jayaram served as CIO of Deere & Co. since 2016.

“His leadership style, global expertise and success in building and implementing both business and technology strategy will serve him incredibly well as he steps in to lead our technology team,” American Airlines CEO Robert Isom stated in an Aug. 22 news release.

Dr. Jayaram will helm American’s tech department, overseeing both its technical and strategic business objectives. Prior to Deere, he worked for Danaher Corp., Canon USA and Boston Consulting Group. He will succeed Maya Leibman, the CIO since 2012, who is relocating to the U.K. for family reasons.
