Data Breach at High Point Health System in N.C. Affects Nearly 50 Patients

High Point (N.C.) Health System said it has suffered a data breach that may have resulted in improper use of patient information, according to a News & Record report.

The health system became aware last month a former employee of its subsidiary Premier Imaging improperly took home 47 patient files, which contained names, addresses, Social Security numbers and other identifying information. The files were later returned and no misuse of the information has been found, according to the report.

The health system said it is taking steps to prevent another breach and regrets the incident, according to the report.
