The White House launched “Gold Eagle” on July 14, an AI-powered clearinghouse designed to accelerate detection and patching of cybersecurity vulnerabilities across critical infrastructure.
The initiative pairs the Treasury Department, DHS’ Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the Department of War with open-source software partners and critical infrastructure companies. Gold Eagle centralizes vulnerability scanning to avoid duplicated efforts and prioritizes patches for the highest-risk flaws. It stems from President Donald Trump’s June 2 executive order, “Promoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security,” which gave agencies 30 days to build the system.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, the Treasury Department is working hand in hand with the private sector to safeguard our financial institutions, close vulnerabilities and protect the integrity of the U.S. financial system,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a July 14 news release.
Gold Eagle has already begun taking in vulnerabilities from multiple industries and coordinating scanning verifications, according to the White House. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that the effort brings “a wartime footing” to cyber defense, while DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said it will help “safeguard software and networks” while advancing AI innovation.
The June 2 executive order underlying Gold Eagle directs CISA to expand access to AI-enabled cybersecurity tools for critical infrastructure operators, explicitly naming rural hospitals alongside community banks and local utilities.
