Albuquerque-based UNM Health System said its clinics will resume regularly scheduled appointments and procedures Oct. 27 after a cybersecurity incident forced it to divert ambulances and cancel all clinic appointments Oct. 26.

In a 10:27 p.m. update Oct. 26, the system said its hospitals, UNM Hospital and Sandoval Regional Medical Center, are open while IT security teams continue working to resolve the incident.

UNM Health began resuming operations at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26, bringing systems back online in phases as it was safe to do so, and said it will work with patients to reschedule missed appointments and procedures.

Earlier that day, UNM Health, which operates New Mexico’s only level 1 trauma center, diverted all ambulance traffic to other hospitals, canceled clinic appointments and told patients not to come to its facilities. Nonessential employees and students at UNM Health Sciences Center’s School of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and College of Population Health were told to leave campus for the rest of the day.
