Weiser (Idaho) Memorial Hospital said an unauthorized party may have accessed personal and protected health information belonging to current and former patients.
On Sept. 4, the hospital detected unusual activity on its network and took steps to secure its systems. After an investigation, the hospital determined that an unauthorized user may have accessed data including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical diagnoses, treatment or procedure information, and Medicare, Medicaid or health insurance details, according to a May 13 news release.
The investigation concluded April 21, and the hospital began notifying affected individuals at that time.
Weiser Memorial said it has since implemented additional security measures to strengthen its network environment and reduce the risk of future incidents.
