Here are four things to know:
1. The Federally Qualified Community Health Center immediately took steps to protect patient and employee data, including shutting down the infected computer systems and cancelling appointments that could not be completed safely without access to its EHR.
2. Throughout the incident, Thundermist remained open normal hours. The health center also reported minimal effects on patient care.
3. Amanda Barney, associate vice president of communications and development for Thundermist, told WPRI Nov. 29 the health center is “on the road to recovering the files” and should be operating normally by Nov. 30.
4. The health center is open, according to an undated statement posted on the health center’s website. No data has been compromised.
