Ms. Clinton tweeted an invitation asking her followers to join the network, called Verrit, Sept. 3. Shortly after, its website stopped loading for web users. Founder and CEO Peter Daou attributed the crash to a “pretty significant and sophisticated” cyberattack, he told Recode.
Verrit brands itself as a social network for the “65.8 million” people who voted for Ms. Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. It posts user-submitted quotes, facts and statistics to arm Ms. Clinton’s supporters with information to better engage in debates.
