New York City-based Montefiore Medical Center reached a settlement with the HHS and has agreed to pay $4.75 million due to a "data security failure."

IT and phone systems were still down Feb. 6 at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, nearly a week after the organization took them offline to deal with a cybersecurity incident.

After taking its EHR offline after its servers were compromised, Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health has successfully brought its patient records system back online as of Feb. 5. 

Chicago-based Lurie Children's Hospital is looking into a "cybersecurity issue" as its computers, internet and phones continue to be offline for the sixth consecutive day, contributing to a systemwide network outage.

Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health took its EHR offline Feb. 3 after some of its servers were compromised, according to a notice on the health system's website.

Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago said Feb. 1 it took its IT systems offline to deal with a "cybersecurity matter."

A ransomware gang said it is giving a Chicago safety-net hospital two days to pay a nearly $900,000 ransom or else it will leak its patients' data, The Record reported Jan. 31.

IT and phone systems went down Jan. 31 at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, causing appointments to be delayed and parents unable to access MyChart.

Three health systems were listed as top companies for data breaches in a Jan. 25 report from nonprofit Identity Theft Resource Center.
