The protected health information of patients at four Stanford hospitals was compromised because of a data breach that affected the hospital's behavioral and mental health service provider Brightline. 

Boise, Idaho-based St. Luke's Health System is notifying 15,246 patients that some of their personal health information may have been compromised due to a technical error that caused letters to be mailed to incorrect addresses.

Hospitals and health systems are falling behind in implementing better cybersecurity measures and will need to increase their investments in cybersecurity to better defend against attacks, an April 11 Moody's report found. 

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights said it has launched an investigation into a February IT security incident that occurred at Tallahassee (Fla.) Memorial HealthCare, WTXL Tallahassee reported April 10.
