Oklahoma hospital’s computer server compromised in ransomware attack

Buffalo, Okla.-based Harper County Community Hospital recently began notifying more than 5,000  patients that their health information was exposed by a ransomware attack on its computer network.

The hospital reported the breach to HHS on May 24 as affecting 5,725 individuals. 

An unknown threat actor compromised Harper County Community Hospital’s workstations and common drives March 24, the hospital said in a breach notice on its website. 

Patient health information that the breach exposed included names, Social Security numbers, birthdates, addresses, patient account numbers, medical diagnoses and health insurance details.
