More than 21,000 affected in Healthback data breach

Healthback Holdings, an Edmond, Okla.-based home healthcare provider, suffered an email breach that exposed the personal data of more than 21,000 individuals.

Healthback said in a July memo to patients that it first became aware of an unauthorized person gaining access to employee email accounts on June 1. Healthback investigated the incident and concluded that patient information including names, health insurance information and Social Security numbers was included in the emails.

According to data breach law firm Turke and Strauss, 21,114 people were affected by the breach.

Turke and Strauss said it is investigating Healthback over the incident.
