Cybercriminals gained entry to the 25-bed critical access hospital’s IT systems in September of that year, breaching personal and health information from 122,488 current and former patients. Some of those patients later filed a class-action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, patients can receive up to $5,000 each for losses related to the data breach. The deadline to file a claim is Feb. 5. Morrison Community Hospital denies any wrongdoing or liability. Becker’s reached out to the hospital for comment.
